With the beauty of the NamibRand ahead, it was an easy choice to leave Aus a day early. Along the way we stopped at the Peculiar Town of Tiras, home to Siegfried Schnebel’s windmill—built to tap into water 30m below ground for his orchards and fodder.
From there we took the D707, its landscapes painted in rich colours and, luckily for us, freshly graded for a smooth ride. Padkos kept us going—bacon & cheese rolls with a few drinks—before reaching our stop for the night, where we paused to soak in the magic of Namibia.
