Throughout our travels in Namibia, we try to stay at Gondwana resorts, as they are typically well-equipped and allow campers to use lodge facilities, including Wi-Fi. Advertised as 60km from Sossusvlei, Namib Desert Campsite is actually 120km away, as the 60km refers to Sesriem.

Sadly, these were the worst campsites we encountered in Namibia. Whoever designed them clearly lacked foresight: a large ablution block sits incongruously in a remote location, and the site overlooks a dry riverbed, close to the main road. The lodge offered only a buffet dinner, with no à la carte menu available. Beers were cold, and the lodge facilities were good, but I wouldn’t camp here again. I’d rather stay at the NWR campsite in Sesriem and tolerate the crowds.
