Departing Calvinia early in the morning, we embarked on the R364, our first gravel road, and marveled at the scenic Botterkloof Pass. After roughly 30,000 kilometers of off-road adventures and challenging terrains, we encountered our first puncture. Fortunately, a can of tire sealant swiftly resolved the issue, allowing us to continue toward Clanwilliam via the breathtaking Pakhuis Pass.

We stopped at Tyremart in Clanwilliam to have the tyre professionally repaired. With the tyre fixed, we proceeded to the Cederberg and arrived at Lylius Campsite. Under new ownership, the campsite lacked clear signage, leading us to a dead-end where our vehicle and trailer became momentarily jackknifed. After some maneuvering, we reached the camp.

Lylius is a stunning campsite, featuring a refreshing pool, a serene river running through it, and clean, well-maintained ablution facilities with hot water. The following day, we returned to Clanwilliam, retracing our route over the picturesque Pakhuis Pass. We enjoyed lunch at The Travellers, a popular hub for rock climbers and the perfect spot to soak in the region's vistas.

Campsite Name: Lylius (old name – not sure of new campsite name)
